PSAA Switches Formats for the 2012 Season

The 2011 Spring Meeting featured many exciting changes for the 2012 IPA Season. One of the most significant changes was the decision by the membership to switch the format of PSAA Class. In 2012, PSAA groups will compete for a rating - Gold, Silver, Bronze, or Participation. The season will culminate with a special event, PSAA Divisional Finals hosted in 2012 at Greenfield-Central High School. This event will feature a unique format that allows ensembles that are new to the activity to celebrate their growth in a less competitive atmosphere. Groups will be able to focus on raising their level of performance to a gold level as opposed to worrying about competing against other groups in their classification. The ultimate goal of every PSAA group will now be promotion to PSA Class.

PSAA Class was established in 2010 to help promote growth in our activity. There have been several new groups who have taken advantage of this new class and joined the IPA family. However, many members of IPA became concerned that the line between "beginner" (PSAA) ensembles and "basic" (PSA) ensembles has been blurred. The IPA Membership felt that removing the competitive label from PSAA will help keep groups competing in the correct classification.

Please stay tuned for more information regarding changes to PSAA Class!
